With Powerball’s $100 million draw on Thursday night heralding 2024’s first big lottery jackpot, Aussie players may be keen to discover the entry types and numbers that have helped previous division one winners take home the coveted prize.

The $100 million jackpot for Powerball draw 1444 on Thursday 18 January 2024 is the equal fifth-biggest jackpot in Australian lottery history. It’s also the biggest jackpot offered by any Australian lottery game in almost six months.

It comes after there were no division one winners for the past four Powerball draws.

The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said up to half of Australian adults were expected to have an entry into this week’s draw in the hope they became Australian lotteries’ first big winner of 2024.

“If just one person scores the entire $100 million prize on Thursday night, they’ll not only receive a substantial boost to their bank account but also share the crown of Australia’s second-biggest lottery winner ever,” he said.

“With many heading back to work after a summer break in recent weeks, the idea of winning this life-changing jackpot is sure to get Aussies dreaming big.

“As long as you’ve got a ticket in your hand before the draw’s close at 7.30pm AEST on Thursday night, you’re in with a chance to win!

“If you’re grabbing a ticket, be sure to register your entry to a player card or online account. This means if you win division one, we can call you immediately after the draw with the life-changing news.”

Powerball’s “Hot” and “Cold” numbers

    • While Powerball is a game of chance, and every number has an equal chance of being drawn, there are some numbers we have seen drawn out of the barrel more often than others.
      • From the main barrel, where seven winning numbers are drawn from 35, the most 17, 7, 11, 2, 3 and 9, while the least frequently drawn are 33, 15, 34, 31, 26 and 1.
      • From the separate Powerball barrel, where a single Powerball number is drawn from 20, the most frequently drawn Powerball numbers are 2 and 19, while the least frequently drawn Powerball numbers are 14 and 16.
