A hardworking Prospect couple were in the middle of their ‘morning madness’ when they were stopped dead in their tracks by the news they’d won a whopping $8 million in last night’s Oz Lotto draw.
The Adelaidean duo held the only division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1589 on Tuesday 30 July 2024 and look forward to the entire $8 million jackpot.
“Oh my god! That’s insane!” the stunned husband cheered when an official from The Lott confirmed the prize.
“Wowee! That’s just crazy talk!
“I saw I had a few missed calls from you, and when I listened to your voicemail, I thought to myself, ‘There’s no way someone from The Lott has called me for no reason. There must be good news coming’.
“My wife and I have been working incredibly hard for years now and this amount is going to completely change our lives.
“I cannot wait to tell my wife the news – she’s going to explode with happiness.
“Oh my god! For a second there I thought I was flying, that’s how joyous I felt.”
With $8 million soon to grace their bank account, the down-to-earth duo shared that whilst they were looking forward to an overdue break they were also very excited to be able to support family doing it tough.
“This prize is beyond a life-changing amount and I don’t think it’s going to sink in for a while,” the winning husband shared.
“After years of working very long hours, I think it’s time for us to take a break and a holiday.
“I’ve always dreamed of helping others too. I have some family doing it really tough at the moment so I’ll definitely be sharing the prize with them.
“We’ll be celebrating this win for a long time to come! Thank you!”
The couple’s winning 12-game QuickPick entry was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1589 on Tuesday 30 July 2024 were 43, 9, 42, 27, 29, 40 and 25 while the supplementary numbers were 45, 24 and 35.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1589 – South Australia claiming the win.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 252 so far in 2024, including 16 won by SA Lotteries customers.
In 2023, 16 Oz Lotto division one winning across Australia collectively won more than $330.8 million.
