When an official from The Lott called to confirm the news, the winner shared that he had checked his ticket while on the phone with his mum, making it an incredibly special and unforgettable moment for them both.

“Mum and I always put a ticket on, and we were actually on the phone last night around 8:30pm.,” he said.

“I was just saying goodnight when she said, ‘Hang on, let’s check our Set for Life tickets.’.

“She had no win, then I opened my app and just went ‘Holy sh**!’. It was so surreal. I felt like I was having a heart attack!

“I’ve had a look at it about 1,000 times, and I think I got about an hour of sleep in total.

“I wanted to sleep but my brain just kept saying, ‘No!’. I couldn’t stop thinking it’s not real.

“I’m having a chai now to calm my nerves.

“Thank you so so so much. It’s all hitting me now. It’s completely life changing. I’m getting emotional, but don’t worry, it’s happy tears.”

With $20,000 about to land into his bank account on the 15th of every month for the next two decades, the kind-hearted man shared he couldn’t wait to help his nearest and dearest.

“Honestly, my mum and sister come to mind straight away with this win. Family is everything to me,” he said.

“Of course, my beautiful cat won’t be left out! She already gets the princess treatment, but now she’ll be even more spoiled.”

His winning marked 2-game entry was purchased via  The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
