A Redcliffe man says his week has been turned around after making a million-dollar discovery by checking his Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto ticket and realising he had won division one.
The Moreton Bay region resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3923, on Wednesday 20 November 2019 and takes home the guaranteed division one prize of $1,000,000.
Confirming his win with a Golden Casket official this morning, the man revealed he’d spent the past week oblivious to the fact he had been walking around with a million-dollar winning ticket.
“I just checked my ticket this morning,” he explained.
“I had no idea! What incredible news.
“I think I am in shock. It’s an unexpected win. It’s great!
“I’ve been playing for a little while, but you never imagine this actually happening to you!
“I think it will take quite some time for this revelation to really hit me.
“It’s turned my week around, that’s for sure!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his surprise windfall, the Redcliffe local said he’d have to let the news sink in.
“I’m not sure,” he laughed.
“I’ll definitely have to just sit back and have a good think about it.
“It’s fantastic news!”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his million-dollar winning entry at Charmed Planet, Shop 1, 261 Victoria Ave, Redcliffe.
Charmed Planet owner Jennifer Mules said she was thrilled to hear the winner had checked their ticket.
“This is the first division one winning Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto entry we’ve sold,” she explained.
“It’s great news for us and our customers.
“Congratulations to the winner! We hope this is a really life-changing experience.”
In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto created 193 millionaires across Australia.
