A Reservoir woman is celebrating a life-enhancing $100,000 win on the Instant Scratch-Its ticket she found under her cat.

The Melburnian’s winning $5 Block-O Bingo Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Summerhill Post and Lotto, Shop 11, Summerhill Village, 830 Plenty Road, Reservoir.

The victorious Victorian told an official from The Lott that she initially thought she’d only scored $100 as she didn’t have her glasses on at the time and hadn’t spotted the extra zeros.

“It’s a funny story, actually,” she laughed.

“I popped into my local newsagency to treat myself to some Instant Scratch-Its. I usually just buy four, but the team member suggested I take the last one on the roll too since there was only one left.

“I went home and scratched my usual four, and then I couldn’t find the fifth ticket – which was the winning one.

“I was looking around for ages, and then I realised my cat was sitting on the ticket; the winning ticket was stuck to him!

“I scratched the ticket, and I didn’t have my glasses on at the time, so at first, I thought I’d won $100.

“When I looked at the ticket properly, I realised I had actually won $100,000. I was like, ‘Are you serious?’. I checked it so many times. I couldn’t believe it.

“Summerhill Post and Lotto is definitely my favourite newsagency – by far.”

When asked how the $100,000 prize would make a difference to her life, the delighted woman said it would give her a much-needed boost into the property market.

“We’re going to put it towards our first home, which is so exciting. It’s come at the perfect time,” she shared.

“We definitely celebrated the win with some takeaway. We didn’t cook that night, that’s for sure.”

Summerhill Post and Lotto owner Mamta Bansal said she was thrilled to have sold a top prize-winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket to a local woman.

“I was over the moon to hear we had sold a top prize. It’s an incredible feeling to be part of something so life-changing for someone in our own community,” she said.

“Being an outlet that’s sold a top prize-winning entry is truly special. It’s a reminder of the excitement and possibilities that come with every ticket, and it’s an honour to be part of someone’s life-changing moment.

“We’re marking this milestone with some fun decorations and sharing the excitement with our customers all week. It gives everyone that extra bit of hope that they could be next!

“We sold our last top prize about three years ago now, and we can’t wait for this to be the start to a winning streak!

“I just want to say a huge congratulations to the winner! I hope this prize brings you all the happiness and opportunities you’ve dreamed of. Enjoy every moment of this life-changing win!”
