A Western Sydney resident is ending the working week $4 million richer after winning division one in last night’s Powerball draw – they just might not know it yet.
The New South Wales winner held the only division one winning entry nationally in Powerball draw 1408, drawn Thursday 11 May 2023. They take home the entire $4,273,177.93jackpot.
The elusive winner is the eighth Powerball division one winner so far in 2023, and places New South Wales as the frontrunner for Powerball wins – with three of those eight division one wins coming from the state.
The winning entry was purchased at Ropes Crossing Newsagency, Shop 6, Ropes Central Village, 8 Central Place, Ropes Crossing.
Although the division one winning entry is registered, officials from The Lott were unable to make contact with the winner on the details provided to deliver the life-changing news.
The Lott spokesperson James Eddy said he was eagerly waiting to speak with Australia’s newest multi-millionaire despite repeated attempts to phone the winnergoing unanswered.
“I was ready to confirm Powerball’s newest division one winner this morning, but sadly whenever I called the number provided, it just rang out and went straight to message bank,” he said.
“If you see a number of missed calls on your phone, you could be the mystery multi-millionaire we’re trying to contact.
“You may not think it’s possible you’re the division one winner we’re searching for, but if you purchased an entry into this week’s Powerball draw from Ropes Crossing Newsagency that you haven’t checked yet, you’re in with a chance!
“We’re urging all Powerball players to check their entries as soon as possible. If you discover you are holding the division one winning ticket, contact the Lott on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1408 on Thursday 11 May 2023 were 8, 15, 9, 18, 3, 28 and 12. The all-important Powerball number was 14.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1408 – the entry from New South Wales.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 361 so far this financial year, including 112 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
In 2022, 22 Powerball division one winning entries across Australia pocketed more than $764.39 million in prize money.
During this time, Powerball offered a $160 million jackpot – the biggest prize ever offered by any Australian lottery game – that was won by three division one winning entries.
Of the 22 Powerball division one winning entries in 2022, 13 landed in New South Wales, four in Victoria, two each in Queensland and Western Australia, and one in South Australia
