A Roma couple say they’ve been waiting for a “little lucky black cat” to visit for years and this afternoon it finally has, dragging in a welcomed $200,000.
The Western Queensland husband and wife took home the guaranteed 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1424, drawn Tuesday 13 August 2019.
Lucky Lotteries is a raffle-style game whose mascot is a black and white cat called Lucky.
This afternoon a Golden Casket official broke the life-changing news to the couple, who explained they’d picked up the winning ticket as they passed through Charleville.
“Oh beautiful. That’s beautiful,” the husband cried with happiness.
“We’ve won $200,000!” the man shouted to his wife.
“I’m shocked! I’ve been playing lotteries for about 25 years.
“I’ve been waiting for this little black cat to come home with some good luck!
“We always joke he’s going to come for a visit sometime soon.
“Now he has! How lovely!”
The hard working husband and wife said their unexpected windfall meant they could finally retire and relax.
“I’ve been thinking about retiring for a long time,” he said.
“I’m going to hopefully be able to do that now. This definitely takes the pressure off.”
The thrilled couple, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning entry at Charleville Newsagency, 67 Alfred Street, Charleville.
Charleville Newsagency employee Heather Richardson said it was great to see a major prize land in Western Queensland.
“There’s something so great about seeing big wins land out here,” she said.
“We’re no stranger to big wins in Charleville, it’s great for our local community.
“Congratulations to our latest winners. We are so happy for them!”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $90.76 million for draw 1425 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $3.10 million for draw 10305.
