A Runaway Bay couple have hastily locked away their winning Lucky Lotteries ticket worth $1.9 million, afraid one of them would misplace their newfound fortune.
The Gold Coast duo held the Jackpot Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 11039, drawn Monday 15 September 2025. They look forward to the entire prize of $1,930,011.00.
As the winning entry wasn’t registered to The Lott Members Club, officials from The Lott had no way of contacting the couple and had to wait for them to check their ticket and come forward.
While there is a guaranteed 1st Prize winner in every draw, the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize climbed to $1.93 million after there were no Jackpot Prize winners for 11 consecutive draws.
When an official from The Lott called to confirm the thrilling news, the stunned couple confessed they’d spent the night in a dizzying state of disbelief.
“I can’t believe it! We’ve been guarding the ticket with our lives since we checked it yesterday,” the winning husband said.
“We quickly decided it was best for us to lock it away.
“We then spent all last night in a state of disbelief, and we were unable to comprehend that we’d just won $1.9 million.
“It’s a lot of money and we can’t seem to wrap our heads around it.
“We’ve always said, ‘You’ve got to be in it to win it’. Now we know what winning feels like."
Despite winning a phenomenal $1.9 million, the humble duo shared the money wouldn’t change them and that their top priority was helping their daughter.
“It’s funny to think we’re now millionaires, but I know us, and we’ll never change,” he said.
“We’ll be happy to lend a helping hand to our daughter. We’ll be able to pay her kids’ school fees and ease any pressures there.
“I think we’ll need some time to process before it starts to feel real.”
Their winning entry was purchased at Golden Lucky News, Shop 1040, Westfield Helensvale, 1-29 Millaroo Drive, Helensvale.
Golden Lucky News owner Melaine Zhi shared she was thrilled to have sold a Jackpot Prize winning entry, marking the biggest ticket the outlet had ever sold.
“We’re so excited to hear the incredible news! We can’t believe we sold a Jackpot Prize winning entry!” she cheered.
“Over the years we’ve sold a few division one, two, and three winning entries, but this is by far our biggest winning entry to date.
“We’re excited to celebrate the good news with our customers in-store over the coming weeks.
“Congratulations to our winner! We hope you can enjoy your prize to the fullest!”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $12.88 million for draw 1719, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $500,000 for draw 11040.
In FY25, 182 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot Prize winning entries across Australia won more than $20.5 million.
Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.
Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.
Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
