A smaller win on a gifted Instant Scratch-Its ticket has led a Hawthorn couple to an unforgettable $150,000 top prize win after they used some of their winnings to purchase another ticket.
The top prize winning $10 Unwrap The Cash Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Auburn South Newsagency, 289 Auburn Road, Hawthorn East.
Confirming their instant win with an official from The Lott this morning, the winning husband relived their exciting discovery.
“It’s really life-changing for us! It was definitely a surprise,” he exclaimed.
“My wife was gifted some Instant Scratch-Its tickets for Secret Santa, and we had won $7 altogether.
“We decided to purchase some more Instant Scratch-Its with the winnings, and we’re so glad we did!
“We scratched the new Instant Scratch-Its tickets as a family and were left shocked.
“Our family never expected to win a top prize, especially after receiving the initial ones as a gift.
“We can’t thank you enough!”
With $150,000 about to boost their bank account, the Victorian shared it would go towards setting their family up for the future.
“Our priority is our children, so we’ll put the prize towards them,” he said.
“It will go a long way!”
In FY22, there were 139 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $14.51 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 28.7 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $261 million. This equates to almost three-quarters of a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
