With $100 million up for grabs in Thursday night’s Powerball draw, Australian lottery players may be keen to discover the entry types and numbers that have helped previous division one winners take home the coveted prize.
The $100 million jackpot for Powerball draw 1414 on Thursday 22 June 2023 is the biggest prize offered by any Australian lottery game this year.
The jackpot has reached this level after there were no division one winners during the past five Powerball draws.
The Lott spokesperson James Eddy said up to half of Australian adults were expected to have an entry into this week’s draw in the hope they became Powerball’s ninth division one winner of 2023.
“If just one person scores the entire $100 million prize on Thursday night, they’ll not only receive a substantial boost to their bank account just in time for the new financial year but also be crowned the second biggest Australian lottery winner ever,” he said.

Where the Powerball jackpots have landed so far this year
- So far in 2023, there have been eight division one winning entries that have collectively taken home more than $154 million in prize money.
- Three of these wins have landed in New South Wales, two in South Australia and one each in Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia.

The entries that have won Powerball jackpots so far this year
- Interestingly, five of the eight Powerball division one winning entries of 2023 to date have been marked entries – where people have selected the numbers on their ticket. This is the opposite of previous years when QuickPicks (where the lottery terminal randomly generates the numbers on the ticket) have scored the most division one wins.
- Half of 2023’s Powerball division one winning entries to date have been PowerHit entries – an entry unique to Powerball that guarantees the all-important Powerball number you need to win division one.
Powerball’s “Hot” and “Cold” numbers
- While Powerball is a game of chance, and every number has an equal chance of being drawn, there are some numbers we have seen drawn out of the barrel more often than others.
- From the main barrel, where seven winning numbers are drawn from 35, the most frequently drawn numbers are 17, 7, 9, 2 and 28, while the least frequently drawn are 31, 33, 34, 15 and 6.
- From the separate Powerball barrel, where a single Powerball number is drawn from 20, the most frequently drawn Powerball numbers are 3 and 19, while the least frequently drawn Powerball numbers are 14 and 16.

- In Victoria, the postcodes of 3150 for Wheelers Hill / Glen Waverley, 3802 for Endeavour Hills, 3109 for Doncaster, 3199 for Frankston, 3172 for Springvale / Dingley Village, 3350 for Ballarat / Lucas and 3024 for Wyndham Vale each sold three division one winning entries.
- In New South Wales and the ACT, the postcode 2142 for Granville sold four division one winning entries.
- In Queensland, the postcode of, 4551 for Caloundra, 4207 for Logan Village / Eagleby / Windaroo, 4506 for Morayfield and 4740 for Rural View / Slade Point each sold three division one winning entries.
- In South Australia, the postcode of 5000 for Adelaide and 5046 for Oaklands Park each sold two division one winning entries.
- In Tasmania, the postcode of 7172 for Sorell, and 7250 for Launceston / Newstead each sold two division one winning entries.
- In the top-end, the postcode of 0830 for Yarrawonga delivered the Northern Territory’s biggest prize from an entry sold in-store.
- In Western Australia, the postcode of 6432 for Boulder sold four division one winning entries.
