A Shellharbour couple has admitted they thought they were going crazy when they first checked their Saturday Lotto ticket and saw a $2.5 million prize awaiting them.

The Illawarra duo in their 30s held one of the eight division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4395 on Saturday 2 September 2023. Each division one winning entry pocketed $2.5 million.

“I thought I was seeing things!” the winning wife confessed when speaking to an official from The Lott to confirm her prize.

“I just thought I’d go and check the numbers and $2.5 million came up!

“This is just a random QuickPick I bought using a win from another draw.

“We don’t usually win much. I think the most we’ve ever won is $30.

“I felt like I was going crazy. I started shaking. It’s very exciting.

“I said to my husband, ‘happy Father’s Day!’.

“Thank you for this call. You’ve changed our lives.

“We’ve already said we’re going to invest it, retire early and go on a family holiday.”

The couple’s winning 36-game QuickPick entry was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4395 on 2 September 2023 were 9, 37, 32, 41, 40 and 16, while the supplementary numbers were 26 and 30.
