A family from Aldinga Beach are recovering from a sleepless night after discovering the news they are now over $2.2 million richer from winning division one in Saturday X Lotto.
The family hold one of the nine division one winning entries nationally and the only entry from South Australia, that took home a division one prize of $2,222,222.23 in Saturday X Lotto draw 3873 drawn Saturday 1 September 2019.
The winning entry was not registered to an Easiplay Club Card, which meant SA Lotteries officials were unable to break the life-changing news and had to wait until the winner checked their ticket and came forward to claim their prize
When speaking with a SA Lotteries official to confirm the win, the winner revealed how she came to discover the life-changing news that her family are now multi-millionaires.
“I had bought the tickets for my Dad and my husband for Father’s Day while out with my Mum,” she explained.
“I was just at home about to make dinner when my Mum texted me to ask if I had checked my ticket because she had seen on the news that someone had won but they hadn’t come forward to yet.
“I just kind of knew for some reason it was me, so I ran and grabbed the ticket and scanned it on the app and saw that we had won!
“I called her back straight away and my Mum thought I was joking at first. My husband and I can be pranksters at times so they didn’t believe us for a while.
“We hear it all the time but never ever do you think it will be you. It’s crazy! We couldn’t sleep – how could you sleep after that!
“I had the worst night’s sleep of my life!”
When asked how the family planned to spend their Saturday X Lotto windfall the thrilled winner revealed they intended to be smart with her prize.
“There are million things that go through your head to start with but we want to do the smart thing. We have kids and so we want to put some money away for their future,” she said.
“We’ll pay off our house and put some into investments too so we can set ourselves up for the future.
“Probably at some point there will be a holiday but we want to do the smart things first.
“We’ve been saving for a car for a while and were planning on selling a few things so we could buy a bigger family car. Now it’s unbelievable that we can just go and get one!”
The happy winner also revealed that the win held sentimental value to the family.
“The date it was drawn on actually our wedding anniversary and the game number we won on was our lucky number which was three.
“So it seems a bit crazy that it was sentimental things to us, but we had no idea.
“We are very fortunate anyway. We have a healthy family and we have a house but it just felt like it was meant to happen to us.”
The winning entry was purchased at Campbell’s Newsagency Morphett Vale, Shops 14 & 15, Southgate Plaza, Sherrifs Road, Morphett Vale.
So far this calendar year, Monday & Wednesday X Lotto and Saturday X Lotto have created 131 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday X Lotto draw 3873 on Saturday 1 September 2018 were 36, 16, 14, 10, 43 and 5, while the supplementary numbers were 19 and 18.
Across Australia there were nine division one winning entries in Saturday X Lotto draw 3873 – three each from Victoria and New South Wales, and one each from Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 278 so far this calendar year, including 29 won by SA Lotteries customers.
Last financial year, there were 290 division one winning Saturday X Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $302.7 million.
