A Fairfield Heights woman has scratched her way to success, turning her five-year tradition of buying an Instant Scratch-Its ticket every Wednesday into a thrilling $100,000 top prize win.
The top prize-winning $5 Cash Word Countries Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Fairfield Heights Newsagency, 251 The Boulevarde, Fairfield Heights.
The jubilant mum was still buzzing with excitement when an official from The Lott called her to confirm her life-enhancing prize.
“I’m still a bit shocked. It’s about time I won something!” she laughed.
“It’s a little ritual I do every Wednesday when I get paid. I head to the newsagency and treat myself to an Instant Scratch-Its ticket. It’s a mid-week pick-me-up I’ve been doing for about five years!
“It’s quite funny because I was holding onto this ticket for a few days with no idea that it was a top prize winner.
“My son inspired my tradition. He bought a ticket one day, and I thought, ‘I’ll play too.’ You should have seen his face when I told him I’d won. He didn’t believe me until I showed him the proof!
“When I first scratched the ticket, there was a lot of swearing I won’t repeat!”
When asked how she planned to use her newfound treasure, the chirpy woman was too stunned to make any immediate decisions.
“I don’t know yet! Everyone keeps asking me, but I have no clue,” she said.
“I think we’ll have a celebration for Christmas. I’ll be able to spoil everyone.”
The Fairfield Heights Newsagency team said they were thrilled to have sold a top prize-winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket and wished the winner all the best with their prize.
