A South Melbourne man was awoken from his slumber in the best way possible this morning, with lottery officials confirming his $30 million Oz Lotto win in last night’s draw.
The Victorian held the only division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1503, drawn Tuesday 6 December 2022, and scored a total prize of $30,061,064.85.
The winning man was oblivious to his good fortune and fast asleep until an official from The Lott made called this morning.
“Oh my god! Oh my god!” he exclaimed when his win was confirmed.
“I’m going to cry. Thank you so much.
“This is fantastic. My brain doesn’t work very well in the morning. Apologies if I was grumpy when I answered.
“I was asleep, but I’m awake now.
“This is so crazy.
“I normally play Powerball, but I saw Oz Lotto was offering $30 million so I thought I’d give it a go. I’m glad I got this ticket now!
“I always had a feeling I was going to win one day – but I think everyone does.
“I’ve got numbers I’ve been using for years – my special numbers. They finally paid off, so I’m glad I persisted. They’re the numbers of my favourite sports players.”
While still coming to terms with his new multi-millionaire status, the Melburnian shared his initial thoughts on how he’d enjoy his prize.
“You know what, I’ve always said if I won something like this, I’d look after my parents first, and then just try and be smart with it.
“My first inclination is to go crazy, but I’m going to be smart and set myself and my family up for the future.
“I’ll still work today and for the time being, but who knows what the future holds now.”
His marked System 9 entry was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1503 on Tuesday 6 December 2022 were 2, 24, 34, 44, 5, 32 and 11, while the supplementary numbers were 46, 20 and 39.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1503 – the entry from Victoria.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 406 so far this calendar year, including 162 won by Tatts customers.
In FY22, 19 division one winning Oz Lotto entries across Australia collectively won more than $268.3 million.
During this time, the biggest Oz Lotto jackpot was $50 million – offered in November 2021 and January 2022.
Of the 19 Oz Lotto division one winning entries in FY22, eight landed in New South Wales, five in Victoria, four in Queensland and one each in South Australia and Western Australia.
