A Gold Coast couple are grinning from ear-to-ear today after confirmation their entry into Saturday Gold Lotto has won them the coveted division one prize.
The Southport couple held one of the nine division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3891, drawn Saturday 3 November 2018. Each entry takes home a division one prize of $441,295.45.
As well as winning the life-changing division one prize, the thrilled couple also won division six, bolstering their total prize to $441,311.40.
The win takes the Gold Coast region’s division one winning tally up to 14 this calendar year. This tally includes an unclaimed prize from draw 3867 drawn 11 August 2018 purchased in Helensvale worth $671,513.12.
Speaking to a Golden Casket official this afternoon to confirm the prize, the wife revealed they had discovered the news on Saturday but were still waiting for it to sink in.
“Oh my god! That’s beautiful thank you!” the winning woman declared.
“My husband was at home and he just said ‘Oh my god, oh my god’.
“I said ‘Don’t get excited hon, we are never ever that lucky’.
“We went into the shop to check it to confirm. We just didn’t know what to do.
“It’s been such a lovely surprise. Just beautiful!”
“We never thought it would happen to us!” the husband added.
When asked how the over-the-moon pair planned to spend their Gold Lotto windfall they revealed they already had plans on the horizon.
“We think we are going to put it towards a nice home for ourselves and then we’ll see what happens from there!” the winning woman declared.
“We sat at home and had a bottle of champagne to celebrate. We haven’t done anything yet as we were still waiting to hear the news from you!
“Thank you for confirming it – it’s just beautiful!”
The couple, who play regularly, explained how they chose their winning numbers.
“They are birthdays and things like that. We’ve been playing the same numbers year after year for about ten plus years now,” the wife revealed.
“My wife has been telling me to change the numbers!” the husband joked.
“I’m glad I didn’t as they are really special to us now! We are just so stoked!”
The winners, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their 12-game marked entry at Lucky Dragon Newsagency, Shop G112 Australia Fair, 40-42 Marine Parade, Southport.
Lucky Dragon Newsagency team member Carla Latorre said she was thrilled the outlet had sold its first division one winning entry in five years.
“We’ve sold division one winning entries twice before but they were both in 2013,” she explained.
“It’s so great to have another winner and to have broken our drought!
“We are so excited for our customers and we wish them all the best with their win!”
So far this calendar year, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto have created 154 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3891 on Saturday 3 November 2018 were 14, 5, 36, 12, 3 and 35, while the supplementary numbers were 15 and 42.
Across Australia there were nine division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3891 – three from Victoria, two each from Queensland and New South Wales, and one each from the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 137 so far this financial year, including 31 won by Golden Casket customers.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2018, there were 290 division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $302.7 million.
