A Southport man has confessed he’s been struggling to play it cool since discovering he scored a division one prize of $653,000 in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.

The Gold Coast resident held one of the eight division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4417, drawn Saturday 18 November 2023. Each division one winning entry scored $653,226.42.

In addition to the division one prize, the man’s marked System 7 entry also won division three 6 times, bolstering his total windfall to $657,257.52.

“I checked the results on Sunday morning!” the winning man explained to an official from The Lott this morning.

“I usually check them on Saturday night, but this time it was the early hours of Sunday morning.

“I was stunned! I was shocked for a few minutes.

“I checked the numbers about a dozen times, just to confirm it was real.

“It’s just amazing! Sensational.

“I’ve got a few ideas on how to spend the money. It’s very exciting. But at the moment, I’m just trying to be low-key and keep it subdued.

“It certainly will make for a nice Christmas and 2024!”

The man’s winning marked System 7 entry was purchased at newsXpress Southport Park, Shop 18, Southport Park Shopping centre, Ferry Road.

newsXpress Southport Park owner Faye Yang said the team were thrilled to have sold a division one winning entry and couldn’t wait to celebrate for weeks to come.

“What an incredible experience! We’ve decorated the shop and plan on shouting our winning news from the rooftops!” she said.

“It’s our first division one winning entry and it feels amazing.

“We know we’re over the moon so we can only imagine how our winner is feeling!

“We’d like to wish them all the best for their future and hope this win ensures they have a merry and joyful Christmas.”
