A Springfield dad has two things to celebrate this week – a $10,000 Instant Scratch-Its win and the birth of his baby.
The happy man’s winning $1 Cash Dash ticket was purchased at Nextra Orion, Shop 29, Orion Springfield, Springfield.
Speaking with an official from the Lott today, the elated winner relayed the moment he made the thrilling discovery.
“I couldn’t believe it when I scratched it!” he admitted.
“I was shaking! I was completely pumped with adrenaline!
“I just kept sweating and shaking!
“But after I settled down a bit, I then started to think I might have accidentally bought some kind of novelty ticket.
“I was worried I got my hopes up for nothing!
“So I took the ticket down to the newsagency and they confirmed it then.
“After that, it took a while to sink in.
“But I was pumped! It’s so exciting!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his prize, the overjoyed man said the win couldn’t have come at a better time.
“We actually just had a baby, so we are feeling incredibly lucky!” he said.
“We will use the prize to pay off some bills and the rest we will use for the kids.
“There will be something small in there for us too.”
Nextra Orion owner Rashmi Ganesh said she couldn’t be happier for her customer.
“The winner came into the store to check his ticket,” she explained.
“I couldn’t believe it! He couldn’t believe it! It came to a shock to both of us.
“He was so happy, but so nervous! He was giving everyone high fives. He almost did a handstand!
“We were all so happy for him! You couldn’t wipe the smile off any of our faces.
“He told us he’d just had a baby as well! I said to him, the baby must have given him luck.
“We wish him all the best with his prize.
“We are looking forward to the next time we sell a major prize win!”
Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 151 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.8 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 29.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $235.25 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day
