A Stawell couple who skipped their honeymoon more than two decades ago are now cashing in their heart-stopping $1.6 million win in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw for the trip of a lifetime.
The victorious Victorians held one of the three division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4555, drawn Saturday 15 March 2025. Their total windfall was $1,695,309.35.
The winning husband, who became a newly crowned millionaire over the weekend, initially couldn’t believe the good news until an official from The Lott confirmed it over the phone.
“Oh, thank you so much!” he laughed.
“I’ve got my cup of coffee and now I’m ready to hear the news of my win!
“My wife is here next to me. She insisted on waking up this morning and listening in on this phone call. She said it’s a lovely phone call that she just couldn’t miss.
“I’ve been playing TattsLotto for a long time. I’ve always played the same numbers, which were chosen at random once upon a time.
“I checked this ticket on Saturday night, and I was speechless. There were a lot of things going around in my head.
“I refused to believe the news because I didn’t want to jinx it. I told my wife that I wouldn’t believe the news until I received the winning phone call, but here we are!”
When asked how they planned to enjoy their newfound fortune, the winning wife suggested going on a long-overdue honeymoon.
“We still haven’t done our honeymoon, which was more than 20 years ago!” she laughed.
“We would love to go somewhere in Australia.
“We will have other plans for the prize, but we need to have a think about it first.”
Their winning marked 12-game entry was purchased at Stawell Lotto, 105 Main Street, Stawell.
Stawell Lotto owner Samanatha Russell said she was excited to hear her outlet had sold yet another division one winning entry after owning the outlet for two years.
“I’m still in shock, and not quite sure yet how to celebrate! I’ve owned the outlet for only two years and I can’t believe we’ve sold another division one winning entry already,” she said.
“I’m sure our customers will be excited as much as we are. The last time we sold a division one winning entry was in July 2022, so it’s been a long time coming!
“Since the outlet first opened its doors to the community, it’s sold 38 major lottery entries in more than 52 years, which is so amazing to think about.
“Congratulations to our newest division one winner and we wish them all the very best with their prize!”
The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4555 on 15 March 2025 were 3, 27, 30, 15, 16 and 13, while the supplementary numbers were 19 and 33.
