A generous Sunnybank woman has promised to share her $100,000 Instant Scratch-Its prize with her parents, who she says, deserve the windfall more than anyone.

The Brisbane resident scratched one of the top prizes on a $5 Crosswords ticket that she purchased at Sunnybank Hills News, Shop 18, Sunnybank Hills Shopping Centre, Corner of Calam & Compton Roads, Sunnybank Hills.

Sharing her joy with an official from The Lott this morning, the woman explained she initially thought she’d won $7.

“Thank you,” she laughed.

“It’s very surreal.

“I checked the ticket at the newsagency this morning, I thought I’d won $7.

“But then they told me they couldn’t pay out the prize because it was too big so I went into the head office.

“It turned out I had completely missed a couple of letters.

“I’d won $100,000, not $7!

“It was nuts.

“I’m still in shock. I can’t believe it!”

When asked how she thought she might enjoy her instant windfall, the generous woman admitted she already had plans in place.

“There’s so much I can do with this prize. It’s amazing,” she said.

“To begin with, I’m going to get myself new car.

“Then I’m going to give my parents half. They deserve it more than anyone. They’ve really been struggling, and I can’t wait to help them out.

“I just can’t believe it. Oh my god!”

Sunnybank Hills News owner Luke Sheehy said the outlet had been on a winning streak.

“Just a couple of months ago we sold a division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto ticket,” he said.

“It’s awesome to see another one of our local and loyal customers win such a good prize. It’s a real thrill!

“Congratulations to her. We hope she really enjoys it!”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 151 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.8 million in top prizes.

During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 29.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $235.25 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
