A Tamworth man is poised to boost his retirement dreams after an unexpected $100,000 windfall in a recent Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw.

The northeast New South Welshman scored the 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10853, drawn Thursday 30 May 2024.

As well as winning the 1st Prize of $100,000, the chirpy man also won a consolation prize of $1,000 – bolstering his total windfall to $101,000.

Lottery officials went to call the winning man straight after the draw on Thursday only to realise his contact details weren’t update to date.

“I’m really excited,” he declared when lottery officials finally spoke to him.

“Thank you so much. I’m in shock!

“I found out on Sunday when I visited the newsagency and I had scanned the ticket. I didn’t know what to believe.

“I’m approaching retirement age, and this has come at the most perfect time.

“It will help boost the retirement fund, that’s for sure!”

His winning entry of two random numbers was purchased at Country Capital Newsagency, 289 Peel Street, Tamworth.

Country Capital Newsagency team member Lisa Monaghan said her team was excited to hear that they’d sold a 1st Prize winning entry worth $100,000.

“We were so excited to hear Country Capital Newsagency had sold a winning ticket to a local and regular customer!” she said.

“We have already started to celebrate the winning news by putting up posters to let our customers know that we sold a major prize-winning ticket.

“This is our first major winning entry in five years, and we couldn’t be happier to have sold another one; bring on the winning streak!

“Congratulations to the winning man and we wish him all the best with his win.”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $20.44 million for draw 1678, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $1.80 million for draw 10854.

In 2023, 117 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $20.6 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
