A Taperoo small business owner has declared it feels 'absolutely awesome' to become a multi-millionaire after scoring a Keno Spot 10 prize worth over $2.4 million.

The South Australian man held a Keno Spot 10 winning entry in draw 2686423 drawn Friday 13 November 2020 and took home $2,499,387.70.

Sharing his excitement with an official from The Lott this morning, the stoked bloke recounted how he discovered his life-changing win.

"I always buy my tickets from the same place and usually just put a Keno on when I buy my other lottery tickets," he explained.

"I only started playing Spot 10 tickets when the jackpot got to over $2 million.

"I got a QuickPick entry a little while ago and just kept replaying the same numbers.

"I didn't watch the draw, so I had no idea I had won anything until my mate called me to tell me he didn't win.

"I asked him what he meant, and he said 'don't you know the Taperoo Deli sold a Keno 10 Spot winner?'.

"I knew that is where I bought my ticket, so I went straight to my ute to check my ticket, and that's when I realised it was a winner.

"I couldn't talk. I couldn't believe it. I still can't actually believe it!"

When asked how he planned to enjoy life as a multi-millionaire, the happy winner said he would be putting his windfall to good use.

"It’s absolutely awesome! I’ve already dreamt of about 10 different ways to spend it!” he laughed.

“I won’t be blowing it though. I own my own small business, and my equipment is falling apart, so I am going to use it to upgrade some of that.

“Then I’m going to buy a house and then put the rest in the bank to think about.

“I would love to go on holiday once we can too!”

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning Keno Spot 10 entry at Taperoo Deli, 351 Victoria Road, Taperoo.

Taperoo Deli owner Ming Li said it was exciting to have sold a Keno 10 Spot winning entry.

“I was shocked but happy when I found out we’d sold a major prize!” he exclaimed.

“We’ve been sharing the exciting news with our customers. They are all so excited about it. It’s really created a buzz in the store!

“The last time we sold a major prize winning entry was in June 2013, so it is great to have finally sold another one.

“Congratulations to our winner! We hope he enjoys the win, and it helps him realise his dreams.”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 28 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who scored more than $4.46 million.  The Spot 10 prize was won twice during this time – a win worth more than $1.66 million was won by a Whyalla player in December 2019, and a prize of more than $1.3 million was won by a Croydon Park man in February 2020.

Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 10 prize, a player must match all 10 of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
