A retired Epsom man was overcome with emotion and struggling to hold back tears after receiving the life-changing news that he’d won more than $838,000 in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.

The Bendigo resident held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4557, drawn Saturday 22 March 2025 and looks forward to a total prize of $838,793.62.

The winning man had no idea about his incredible division one win until an official from The Lott surprised and delighted him with the news earlier this morning, leaving him in tears.

“Oh, you’re joking! Oh my god!” he cried.

“Oh my god. This isn’t a hoax, is it?

“Oh dear, oh dear. Things like this don’t happen to me. I can’t believe it.

“My wife is in the shower, so she has absolutely no idea what is going on right now.

“I might have to be careful with how I tell her, or she might faint. I don’t want to have to call the ambulance!

“Oh my god. I can see the winning numbers here now; this checks out.

“I was just walking around the house when you called. I had no idea about the win.

“I can’t stop crying.”

When asked how he’d spend his windfall, the victorious Victorian admitted he was too shell-shocked to make any immediate plans.

“I haven’t got a clue,” he exclaimed.

“I do know it will go to good use though. It will boost our retirement plans!

“Thank you! I’m going to remember your name for the rest of my life.”

His winning System 7 entry was purchased at Epsom Lotto & Gifts, Shop 12, Village Epsom, 16-40 Howard Street, Epsom.

Epsom Lotto & Gifts owner Chris Trowell shared his excitement for the division one winner and felt a sense of relief, having come close to selling a division one winning entry multiple times in previous years.

“We’re so excited for the winner! It’s been nearly nine years since our last division one winner and we’ve had so many close calls over the years, so it’s nice to finally have one,” he said.

“We’ll be celebrating this milestone by decorating our store, getting some division one posters made up and sharing the news with all of our customers.

“Our customers' reactions will likely be mixed, but I imagine most will be thrilled for us. Of course, there may be a few who feel a little jealous that luck didn’t land their way this time.

“The last time we sold multiple division one winning entries was in October 2014, February 2015, and July 2016, so we’d love for this to start another winning streak!

“We would love to say a huge congratulations to the division one winner and we hope they enjoy their prize!”

The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4557 on 22 March 2025 were 16, 11, 42, 34, 29 and 45, while the supplementary numbers were 14 and 18.

Across Australia, there were three division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4557 – three in Victoria, two in New South Wales and one in Queensland.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 344 so far in FY25, including 128 won by Tatts customers.

In 2024, TattsLotto created 149 millionaires across Australia.

During this time, there were 316 division one winning TattsLotto entries across Australia that collectively won more than $400.2 million.
