A Thornlands man had his Monday morning meetings take an unexpected turn when a text from lottery officials led him to discover he’d pocketed $200,000 in a recent Lucky Lotteries draw.
The Redlands resident held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1740, drawn Monday 8 December 2025. He looks forward to a neat $200,000 payday just days before Christmas.
When speaking to an official from The Lott, the winning man confessed he initially thought his phone screen was glitching when he checked his ticket, unable to believe he’d scored a major lottery prize.
“Wow! I’m in complete disbelief!” he said.
“I was just in between meetings when I saw your attention text that prompted me to check my tickets.
“When I first checked my ticket, I thought to myself, ‘This can’t be right?!’. I honestly thought my phone screen must’ve been broken.
“I had to pop into a private room at work to contain my excitement.
“I can’t wait to give my other half a call and share the good news!”
The stunned winner shared he would be prioritising some practical tasks, before enjoying some time off with his prize.
“It’s definitely going to help with our mortgage and investments for the future,” he explained.
“I think we’ll be able to fit a holiday in between too.
“First things first, I need to get through the rest of the workday, which is going to be hard after this adrenaline high.”
His winning entry of two random numbers was purchased on The Lott website – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $18.16 million for draw 1741, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $1.93 million for draw 11051.
In FY25, 182 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot Prize winning entries across Australia won more than $20.5 million.
