Almost three weeks after the draw, a Golden Square family has today come forward to claim their $20 million Oz Lotto win – revealing they’d completely forgotten they’d even purchased a ticket.

The elusive Victorian players held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1429 on Tuesday 6 July 2021. They take home a division one prize of $20 million.

The division one winning entry was unregistered, which means officials from The Lott were unable to reach out to the winner and had to wait for them to come forward to claim their prize.

Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the overjoyed family relayed how they came to realise they were the owners of the mystery $20 million winning Oz Lotto ticket.

“We were cleaning the house the other day when we came across some old tickets which we’d forgotten about,” the family matriarch said.

“Some had been in there for so long, so I decided to take them all down to the newsagency to check them.

“I scanned them on the self-checker, and it said that I had to go to the counter. I thought there was just some problem with the ticket because it was oldish.

“But then I’d remember there was a missing Oz Lotto winner from Golden Square, so I started to think maybe we had that winning ticket.

“I didn’t want to get my hopes up, so we checked again ourselves and that’s when we realised we were the winners.

“We have felt so nervous and sick ever since we checked the ticket.

“We just can’t believe we’re multi-millionaires now. This feels like a dream come true!

“It’s so overwhelming for us all. My stomach is full of butterflies, and I feel all jittery.

“When will we start to feel normal? Or is it always going to be hard to believe we’re multi-millionaires?

“This feels like the best day of our lives! I am not sure if we’re ever going to come down from this.”

The winning entry was purchased at Golden Square Newsagency, 303 High Street, Golden Square.

Golden Square Newsagency owner Bill Roberts said he was glad to hear the division one prize had now been claimed.

“How exciting is that!” he said.

“I have had people coming in and asking about that ticket every day. Even today, I had people asking if the winner had claimed their prize.

“I am sure everyone will be happy to know the winner has finally been united with their division one win and the ticket hasn’t been lost or forgotten about.

“We are so happy for the winning family and hope they can have some fun with their prize.

“We’d love to send our congratulations to the happy winners and wish them all the best.

“Now we’ve united this winner with their prize. We’re ready for our next big win.”

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1429 on Wednesday 7 July 2021 were 42, 32, 21, 19, 44, 25 and 33, while the supplementary numbers were 7 and 18.
