The search is over! A down-to-earth Toowoomba couple has been revealed as the mystery ticketholder of the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto $4 million division one prize.

The Toowoomba couple held the only division one winning entry across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3883 on 6 October 2018. The entry takes home the entire division one prize pool of $4,020,291.14.

As the entry wasn’t registered to a Winners Circle card, Golden Casket officials had no way to contact the ticketholder with the life-changing news.

However this afternoon, the couple spoke with a Golden Casket official, armed with their winning ticket and ready to claim their multi-million dollar prize.

“It’s bizarre!” the winning man declared.

“It’s going to change our lives. It’s a wonderful feeling to have.

“It’s totally bizarre.  And to think it’s four million dollars. It is a little bit to take in. We’re level headed so we’re going to put it to good use.

“There’s a billion plans but we’ll wait until we see it in our account before we decide anything. We’ll definitely pay off the mortgage.”

The couple, who only play Saturday Gold Lotto occasionally, explained they checked their ticket on Saturday night, shortly after the winning numbers were drawn.

“My wife checked it and said ‘I think we’ve won it’. I thought the prize would be about $500,000, but then we saw there was only one winner in Australia. We can’t believe it,” he explained.

“My head’s spinning right now – I just don’t believe it,” his wife added.

It’s the third time during the past month a single entry has won the entire Saturday Gold Lotto division one prize pool. It’s also the 300th division one winning entry so far this year across the Lott’s jurisdictions.

So far in 2018, seven major lottery prizes worth more than $11.34 million have been won by Darling Downs players.

Last week, a Toowoomba woman scored a $2.32 million Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize. She plans to live life to the fullest, starting with having her teeth fixed.

The latest winning entry was purchased at North Point News, Shop 2, Northpoint Shopping Centre, 121-131 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba.

North Point News owner Mark Stevenson said he was over the moon his outlet had sold a division one winning ticket – the first since it opened in 2014.

“It’s great news! We thought we were about due for a win, but to take the full lot is fantastic,” he said.

“We’re thrilled the winner has been found and we wish them all the very best with their prize.”

So far this calendar year, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto have created 143 millionaires across Australia.

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3883 on Saturday 6 October 2018 were 7, 34, 1, 22, 40 and 2, while the supplementary numbers were 15 and 26.

Across Australia there was only one division one winning entry in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3883.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 300 so far this calendar year, including 68 won by Golden Casket customers.

Last financial year, there were 290 division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $302.7 million.
