A Toowoomba retiree says she’s still reeling after discovering what she initially thought was a $250 win was in fact a life-changing $100,000 Instant Scratch-Its prize.

The top prize-winning $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Wyalla News & Post, Shop 12 Wyalla Plaza, 238A Taylor Street, Toowoomba.

Sharing her excitement with an official from The Lott this morning, the regular player said she still couldn’t quite believe her good fortune.

“I buy a couple of scratchies when I’m out shopping and then I usually go sit at a café and have a coffee while I scratched them,” she explained.

“I won $7 on one of the tickets, so I went and got a couple more and headed home.

“That night I was sitting at home scratching the last one and I thought I’d won $250.

“Then I realised I had another word and that I could have won $1,000. I was thrilled!

“When I took the ticket back to the newsagency the next day they told me they couldn’t pay out the prize, it was too big!

“So we re-checked the ticket and discovered there were 10 words there.

“I immediately started crying. I couldn’t believe it. And I couldn’t sleep that night!

“Nothing like that has ever happened to me. It is amazing!”

With $100,000 about to hit her bank account, the woman said she’d had multiple sleepless nights dreaming about what she’d do with her prize.

“I am going to treat myself to some lovely new furniture for the home,” she declared.

“And I will buy myself a new car!

“I am so, so grateful.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
