Townsville has added another division one winner to its winning streak with a local man left stunned after checking his Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto ticket today.

The North Queensland winner held the only division one winning entry in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4075, drawn Wednesday 5 May 2021. He takes home a division one prize of $1 million.

Speaking to an official from The Lott moments after he discovered his winning news, the Townsville resident confessed the prize would mean big changes for him and his family.

“That’s unbelievable!” he exclaimed.

“I just realised only about 10 minutes ago. It’s awesome. I honestly can’t believe it.

“When I checked my ticket, I seriously thought the newsagent was having a go at me.

“I’ve been playing for years, and years, and years.

“I never thought it would happen to me, but now it has and it’s amazing.

“My brain is rattled!

“I think I’m a bit shocked.”

With $1 million about to hit his bank account, the hard-working dad immediately thought of settling down for an early retirement.

"God only knows exactly what right now, but it will go to good use, that’s for sure,” he said

“I’ll be able to retire properly now, which is what we all hope for!

“Wow! I need to calm down. This will change a lot!”

“Thank you very much.”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his division one winning entry at News On The Avenues, 85 Burnda St, Kirwan.

It’s the second division one win at News On The Avenues in less than a fortnight, with a local family winning division one in Set for Life last Tuesday.

News On The Avenues owner David Neilsen said he was pleased his latest winner had discovered their good fortune.

“It’s great to see it go to a regular customer. We see him when he comes in to get the newspaper and lottery ticket,” he explained.

“We had a win last week, and we win this week. We’re hoping to see a win every week – that would be something!

“I would like to say congratulations to the winner. He is a hard-working man, and I wish him all the very best with his prize and early retirement!”
