A generous Tuncurry father has experienced a full-circle moment after a ticket he purchased in support of the Starlight Children’s Foundation scored him a $250,000 Play For Purpose First Prize Pack.
The New South Wales resident scored the $250,000 First Prize Pack in Play For Purpose Raffle 27, drawn Friday 27 June 2025, which included a a Toyota LandCruiser Sahara valued at $152,899 and $97,101 of gold bullion.
The dotting dad purchased his winning ticket in support of Starlight Children’s Foundation, revealing the not-for-profit organisation holds a special place in his heart for helping his children through hospital visits and surgeries over the years.
“You’re kidding me?! That’s awesome!” he exclaimed.
“I’m absolutely stunned. I’m actually out driving for work right now, but I think I need to pull over and take a moment to let this sink in.
“Starlight has been there for my kids and our family when we needed it. Their support made a real difference in our lives, and I’m very grateful.
“From hospital visits to surgeries, they’ve been incredibly helpful.
“This is just awesome. I’m very stunned to say the least!
“I’ll have to call my wife after this and surprise her. She'll be very happy.
“I don’t even know what to say. I’m sort of dumbstruck.
“This was actually the first time I’d bought a ticket. I received an email about it and thought ‘Why not?’.
“Thank you so much!”
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased their entry in support of Starlight Children’s Foundation at thelott.com/play-for-purpose/play.
Starlight Children’s Foundation Chief Executive officer Louise Baxter said she was over the moon to hear a Starlight supporter with a close connection to the cause had won the First Prize Pack.
