A Berkley Vale man has revealed an unfortunate event led to the fortunate discovery of his $1.2 million win in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
The New South Wales man held one of the four division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4433 on Saturday 13 January 2024. Each division one winning entry scored $1,260,010.08.
When an official from The Lott called to confirm the prize, the winning man shared that he’d checked his entry after a dodgy carbonara had made him unwell and kept him up all night.
“Mate, this is unbelievable!” he exclaimed.
“I’ve been waiting for your call for two days! Now that you’ve called, I can allow myself to believe it’s real.
“Saturday night wasn’t a fun one for anyone in my home!
“A dodgy carbonara had me feeling very unwell and unable to sleep all night, so just after midnight I gave up on sleep and decided to check my entry.
“Well, I felt better immediately!
“The adrenaline started pumping and sleep was forgotten after that. I woke up my partner and we both just sat in shock for a little while.
“I’ve never bought a house so that’s my first priority.
“Following that, I’ll just set us up for the future and enjoy this moment.
“It’s surreal!”
