A couple visiting the country from the UK have had their Aussie adventure paid for after winning $10,000 on a $1 Spring Winnings Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The ecstatic pair purchased their winning ticket from Strike It Lucky, Shop 135, Warringah Mall, Brookvale.
Sharing their joy with a NSW Lotteries official this morning to claim their prize, the English grandparents explained how they got their hands on the winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
“Well we’ve been on holidays in Australia to visit our daughter for Christmas,” the woman shared.
“She bought us ten Instant Scratch-Its tickets as a Christmas gift.
“I won about $14 on them so we went back for more tickets.
“Sure enough, my husband scratched a winning one, we couldn’t believe it!
“It’s paid for our holiday!”
The couple explained the win had been an adventure they would never forget and the extra money meant it would not be over as soon.
“We’re meant to be going home in a couple of weeks but now we’re thinking we’ll extend our holiday!” she exclaimed.
Strike It Lucky owner Rachel Wang said she was very excited for the couple.
“What a brilliant surprise to receive while on holidays!” she exclaimed.
“Last year we also sold an Instant Scratch-Its ticket that won $25,000 and the year before we sold two Instant Scratch-Its tickets that had $50,000 on them.”
In 2018, there were 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $14.26 million.
