A Boonah man had a Good Friday he’ll never forget after scratching a life-enhancing $100,000 top prize on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The top prize winning $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Boonah Newsagency, 43 High Street, Boonah.
Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the Scenic Rim resident shared a smaller win had led him to the top prize.
“Initially, I’d purchased two of the $15 Crossword Books, and I’d won about $45, so I used those winnings to purchase another and a $5 Crosswords,” he explained.
“It was the afternoon of Good Friday, and I’d sat down to drink a can of Coca-Cola and scratch the Instant Scratch-Its tickets. That’s when I discovered I’d won $100,000!
“I used a pencil to scratch the ticket because I didn’t have anything else at the time, so it made it harder to read. I had to phone someone to come over and look at it for me!
“I couldn’t believe it – I was flabbergasted. I’d switched from drinking coke to a celebratory beer!
“I’ve taken the day off today to celebrate.
“It changes your life, no doubt! It’s great!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his instant windfall, the hard-working man said he would put it towards his nest egg.
“I was going to buy a V8 LandCruiser, but then I thought, no, I’m going to keep it in the bank and hopefully retire early,” he said.
The Boonah Newsagency team said they were thrilled to have sold another winning top prize Instant Scratch-Its ticket this year.
“This is our second top prize Instant Scratch-Its ticket that we’ve sold this year, and we’re so happy! . In January, we sold a $10 Jumbo Crosswords top prize worth $150,000,” they shared.
“We’re over the moon to have sold a top prize Instant Scratch-Its to another regular and local customer.
“We wish them all the best, and congratulations on your instant windfall!”
In 2021, there were 157 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $10 million in top prizes.
