A Canberra university student is thanking her mum for gifting her a winning $10,000 Instant Scratch-Its ticket, as part of their long-running present exchange.
The top prize scoring $1.10 Sweet Dough ticket was purchased at Nextra Hyperdome, Shop G015A, Hyperdome Shopping Centre, Tuggeranong.
Sharing her excitement with a NSW Lotteries official this afternoon to claim her prize, the winner revealed how her windfall came about.
“Mum and I have been buying scratchies for each other for years and last week she bought me a scratchie and sent it to me,” she explained.
“I was at home scratching it with my housemates and initially I thought I’d won a $1.10 free ticket.
“But I got my friends to all check it as well and we couldn’t believe it when we released I’d in fact won $10,000! It was crazy!
“I couldn’t believe it! I thought it was fake! I thought my mum had set me up and sent me a fake winning scratchie!
“It was amazing! I couldn’t stop shaking!”
“I’m just a student so this will go a long way. I’ll probably use it towards my rent and go on a holiday.
“I would love to go to South America!”
In 2018, there were 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $14.26 million.
