Lottery officials are urgently seeking the Yagoona resident or visitor who purchased a $200,000 winning Lucky Lotteries ticket nearly six years ago, as the deadline to claim the prize is fast approaching.
The mystery player may be completely unaware that they've been sitting on the life-enhancing prize for almost six years.
The elusive ticketholder held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1278, drawn Monday 15 April 2019. They can look forward to a total prize of $200,000.
In New South Wales, players have six years from the draw date to collect their prize.
As the entry was not registered to The Lott Members Club, officials from The Lott have had no way to contact the winner to break the life-changing news. Instead, they have been eagerly waiting for the mystery player to check their ticket and come forward to claim their prize.
The 1st Prize winning entry was purchased at Yagoona Newsagency, 462 - 464 Hume Highway, Yagoona.
Yagoona Newsagency owner Thao Nguyen shared she hoped the elusive winner checked their ticket and came forward to enjoy their prize before the deadline.
“We can’t believe that after six years, the mystery ticketholder still hasn’t come forward! For the past six years, every time we check a Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot ticket for a customer, we hope it’s the unclaimed one,” she said.
“We’re encouraging all our customers to have a look through their old tickets because you never know where that winning ticket may be hiding.
“We hope this winner checks their ticket soon and can enjoy all the happiness their prize has to offer.”
The Lott spokesperson Eliza Wregg said time was ticking for the mystery player to come forward.
“Time is running out for this mystery winner to claim their life-changing prize. In New South Wales, lottery winners have six years from the draw date to claim their prize. Once the six years has passed, the prize cannot be paid,” she said.
“It’s likely our elusive winner has been going about the past six years as normal with no idea they’ve been holding a winning ticket worth $200,000.
“We’re urging all players who purchased a Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot ticket from Yagoona Newsagency to check their tickets as soon as possible.
“This is a great reminder to all players to register their tickets to a player card or online account. If this player had registered their ticket to The Lott Members Club, they would have already been united with their good fortune six years ago.
“Make sure you check your wallets, handbags, car glovebox or anywhere you may have an old ticket, because the winner could be you and you could be planning what to do with your prize!
“If you discover you are holding the winning ticket, contact The Lott on 131 868 immediately to begin the process of claiming your prize.”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $5.32 million for draw 1700, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $14.67 million for draw 10953.
In 2024, 147 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $52.2 million.
Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.
Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.
Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
