A spur-of-the-moment decision to try a new lottery game has landed an Urunga mother a $200,000 prize in today’s Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw.
The Mid North Coast player won the 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1544, drawn Tuesday 14 September 2021.
Straight after the draw, an official from The Lott called the winner, who admitted the thrilling news came as a surprise.
“Wow! That’s amazing,” the euphoric woman laughed.
“I decided to randomly purchase a ticket when my mother-in-law asked what the Lucky Lotteries game was. I’ve never played an entry before.
“I’m going to tell my partner who will not believe me! It might take a while to process myself. It’s hard to digest the news.
“It’s been quite challenging being a stay-at-home mum. The prize will help me significantly. I never thought I’d ever win a lottery prize.
“Thank you so much.”
When asked how the prize money would make a difference, the winning woman explained she had been eyeing off a new set of wheels.
“I’ve been wanting to purchase a new car for a while now. Hopefully a larger one!” she revealed.
“Having a larger car with more space will be a lot easier for my family.”
The New South Wales woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning entry of four random numbers online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $3.40 million for draw 1545, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $2.45 million for draw 10490.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, 136 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $46.09 million.
During this time, the biggest Lucky Lotteries prize was won by a Coolangatta man who a Mega Jackpot prize of $9.41 million in May 2021.
Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.
Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.
