While a young Adelaide man and a Sydney couple are already planning what they’re going to do with their $36.6 million Powerball prize, a mystery Victorian shopper has yet to claim their multi-million-dollar windfall.

There were three division one winning entries nationally in Thursday’s record-breaking $110 million Powerball draw, draw 1209 on Thursday 18 July 2019 – one each from South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria. Each division one winning entry takes home $36,666,666.67.

The three new division one winners join an exclusive club of five other Australians who have won a Powerball division one prize so far this year.

The Lott officials this morning revealed the unregistered Victorian division one winning entry was sold at Mid-Town Lotto, Shop 3, Gisborne Central Shopping Centre, 10-20 Aitken Street, Gisborne.

As the Victorian entry was not registered to a Tatts Club card, officials have no way to contact the ticketholder and break the mind-blowing news.

This means the winner may have yet to discover their new multi-millionaire status and could be walking around with a ticket worth $36.6 million in their pocket, wallet or handbag.

Anyone who purchased their Powerball entry from Mid-Town Lotto is urged to check their ticket immediately.

Mid-Town Lotto owner John Kelly said he was ecstatic to discover his outlet had sold such a massive division one winning entry.

“It’s great news!” he exclaimed.

“We’ve had this store since 2001 and this is the first division one winning entry its sold.  What an entry to sell!

“Something like this is always great news in a town like ours.

“My staff will be thrilled when I tell them as they’ve put in such a big effort this week. It’s been so busy leading up to the Powerball draw.”

“I’m sure we’ll be busy in the coming days as people check their tickets. We can’t wait to deliver the news to one of our customers.

The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said she encouraged Gisborne residents and visitors to check their tickets as they could be one of Australia’s newest multi-millionaires.

“While we haven’t been able to confirm the win with our Victorian winner, we can guarantee that when they discover the news, their life is set to change when their bank accounts balloon by a whopping $36.6 million,” she said.

“Make sure you check your entry as soon as possible because you may not have to go to work on Monday. Instead, you could start planning how you can play by your own rules and begin your life as a newly-minted multi-millionaire.”

“Players can check their entry at any outlet, online at thelott.com or on the Lott app.

“If you check your entry and discover you are holding the winning ticket, we recommend you keep it safe and contact 131 868 to start the process of claiming your prize!”

The Lott also reminds players of the importance of registering their tickets to a player card so all of their prizes are secure and they can be contacted directly with the good news of a big win.

New South Wales couple claims $36.6 million prize

A young family from Sydney were feeling overwhelmed yesterday after discovering they held the winning New South Wales entry from Thursday’s Powerball draw, which scored them a $36.6 million prize.

The winning woman confessed they were going to take a moment to let the life-changing news sink in.

“It all feels very surreal at the moment!” she said.

“I think we’ll just have to take it one step at a time and see how we go!

“We’ve got two kids so this will go a long way to setting them up for the future.”

When asked how they planned to enjoy their multi-million dollar windfall, the happy Sydneysider confessed she wouldn’t be giving up her day job.

“I love my job in medical research so won’t be giving that up but I do hope to use the money in a meaningful way.”

The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her entry online.

Sleepless night for young Adelaide man

A young man from Adelaide is looking forward to taking his family on a first-class trip around the globe and paying off his family’s mortgages after scoring division one in Thursday’s Powerball draw.

As well as winning the coveted division one prize of $36,666,666.67 the thrilled winner also scored division two 19 times, bolstering his total prize to $37,602,912.27.

Speaking with an official from the Lott straight after the draw, the winner revealed he couldn’t believe the news.

“Wow! Thank you so much! That is incredible. I can’t believe that. I am shaking so much!” he exclaimed.

“This is going to change so many lives!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Powerball windfall, he said sharing with family and charities was the priority.

“I would love to take my family on a holiday!” he said.

“I’m not sure where exactly I’ll be going but I think a round-the-world trip might be on the cards. In fact, we could even do it first class!

“I’ll also pay off my family’s mortgages and donate heaps to charity.”

The thrilled winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his QuickPick Powerhit entry online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1209 drawn on Thursday 18 July 2019 were 6, 13, 1, 11, 23, 27 and 16, while the all-important Powerball is 11.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 196 so far this calendar year.

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, 10 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed $398,575,649.10 in prize money.  This included one Sydney woman who in January scored a Powerball payday of more than $107 million – Australia’s biggest ever individual lottery prize.
