A Wagga Wagga woman has had a road trip she’ll never forget, picking up a division one winning entry during a pit stop in Balranald, en route to her final destination.
The New South Wales entry was one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 3953, drawn Saturday 8 June 2019. The winner will take home a division one prize of $953,391.46.
Sharing her excitement with a NSW Lotteries official this afternoon, the woman explained the lotto pit stop is always part of her road trip ritual.
“Good grief!” she laughed.
“We’re from Wagga but we’ve been on a road trip and every time we go through Balranald we stop and get a lotto ticket and check it on the way home.
“It’s the only time I ever buy a lotto ticket and I always win something!
“We’ve just driven back through Balranald and stopped to check the ticket.
“I walked into the newsagency and saw they’d sold a division one winning ticket and thought to myself ‘someone must be happy today’.
“Then I handed over my ticket and they said it was me!
“I am numb! I’m in shock!
“We’re still three hours away from home but it’s going to be a good drive home!” The shocked winner said she’d need some time to let the life-changing news sink in and decide exactly how she’d use her unexpected prize.
“I don’t know what we’ll do!” she exclaimed.
“My partner and I are both retired and we will probably just have a good think about what we’ll do with the prize.
“It’s definitely come at a good time. It’s amazing!
“We won’t have to worry about anything anymore! It’s just lovely!”
The winning ticket was purchased at Balranald Newsagency, 103 Market Street, Balranald.
Balranald Newsagency owner Lisa Jolliffe said it’s the first division one winning ticket they’d sold.
“This is definitely the talk of the Balranald community, it’s creating quite a buzz and we’ve had plenty of people coming in to congratulate us,” she said.
“We’ve never sold a division one winning entry here before and we’re thrilled the winner has now checked their ticket!
In 2018, Monday & Wednesday Lotto and Saturday Lotto created 194 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3953 on Saturday 8 June 2019 were 22, 24, 42, 36, 39 and 1, while the supplementary numbers were 41 and 12.
Across Australia, there were four division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 3953, one each from New South Wales, South Australia and two from Victoria.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 155 so far this calendar year, including 41 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
In the 12 months to 31 December 2018, there were 280 division one winning entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $306.19 million.
