While giving his car a routine clean, a Wollongong man unearthed a hidden treasure in his glove box - a winning Lucky Lotteries ticket worth $100,000.

The Illawarra player held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10871, drawn Monday 2 September 2024, and pocketed a neat $100,000.

The gobsmacked man confessed the prize was a ‘game-changer’ and looked forward to sharing the news with his wife and children, who he didn’t think would believe him.

“I can’t believe it!” the winning man cheered.

“I was cleaning my car the other day and decided to clear out my glovebox.

“When I was digging through, I found a few tickets I’d purchased, so I thought I should go to the newsagent and get them checked.

“As it turns out, I was holding a golden ticket this whole time!

“It feels too crazy to be real!

“I’m not sure my wife will believe me when I tell her the news.

“This will clear our mortgage. It’s a game-changer!

“I need to go and have a cup of coffee and hopefully it sinks in.”

The man’s winning entry was purchased at Keira Street Newsagency, Shop 6, 175 Keira Street, Wollongong.

Keira Street Newsagency owner Yizheng Cai said he was surprised to hear another customer had held a 1st Prize winning ticket from his outlet.

“This is our second Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot 1st Prize winning ticket sold at our outlet in just one week!” he shared.

“We are so surprised ourselves! We’re very happy that our amazing customers are experiencing life-changing wins.

“We hope more people can win 1st Prize from our outlet in the future and realie their dreams.

Congratulations to our winner and we wish you all the best!”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $2.20 million for draw 1687, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $4.27 million for draw 10873.

In FY24, 147 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $53.4 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
