A Wollongong man who accidentally chose the “wrong” numbers on a marked entry in Saturday’s Lotto Strike draw was thrilled to discover his mistake led to a division one win.

The New South Wales man’s entry was the only division one winning entry in Lotto Strike draw 4653 on Saturday 11 May 2019 and takes home the entire division one prize of $887,102.10.

When a NSW Lotteries official called the man this morning to confirm his news, he explained how he almost missed out on winning division one.

“I made a mistake with my marked numbers,” he admitted.

“One number is a family member’s birthday, but I realised later that I actually got the date wrong.

“If I hadn’t used the wrong number I would never have won division one!

“I really feel as though this win was meant to be.

“I also won the day before Mother’s Day and my mum, who loved playing Lotto and said we’d win one day, has passed away, so my family thinks she was looking down on me and helped deliver me the win.”

The elated man shared his win came as a shock to him, but his family and friends always had a feeling he would be the one to take out division one.

“Everyone always said I was going to win,” he declared.

“But I always said I would be on another planet if I won! Now it’s happened, I can’t really believe it. I felt very nervous when I saw how much I won.

“It was a great surprise for me! It hasn’t sunk in yet.”

When asked how he planned to spend his prize, the humble man said he would share it with those at the top of his Lotto List, his family.

“I said to my family yesterday, ‘god, I didn’t need to win this much money. I have no idea what I will do with it’.” he laughed.

“I always said if I won I would help my family. When I told them, they all couldn’t stop crying.”

The winning entry was purchased from Fairy Meadow Newsagency, 35 Princes Highway, Fairy Meadow.

Fairy Meadow Newsagency owner Kate Di Maggio said she was thrilled to help deliver a division one win to one of her customers.

“I was so excited when I discovered we sold a division one winning entry,” she said.

“Our customers will be extremely happy to hear that the winning ticket was sold in Fairy Meadow. We can’t wait to sell another major prize soon!

“It’s a great feeling to know that one of our lucky customers is going to be able to fulfil their dreams!

“We wish our winner all the best! We hope he enjoys his good fortune and it brings him happiness.”

The winning numbers in Lotto Strike draw 4653 on Saturday 11 May 2019 were 27, 32, 44 and 28.

Lotto Strike is an add-on game that is played with Monday, Wednesday and Saturday Lotto and can be played for as little as $1.10.

Lotto Strike’s division one prize is won by selecting the first four Lotto numbers in the exact order they are drawn in the Lotto draw.

If you match just one, two or three of the first four Lotto balls, in exactly the same order drawn, you’ll also win a prize. If no one picks all four winning numbers in the draw, the Lotto Strike Jackpot prize pool will jackpot to the next draw.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 131 so far this calendar year, including 33 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
