A Wynnum West couple could not believe their eyes after discovering their 50-year-long Lucky Lotteries tradition yielded them a $100,000 win.

The east Brisbane residents held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10881 drawn Tuesday 8 October 2024 and look forward to a total prize of $100,000.

The cheery couple revealed that in the heat of the moment; after discovering their newfound treasure, they exclaimed a few choice words in pure shock.

“We’re feeling very good right now!” the winning husband chuckled.

“Still in a bit of shock if we’re honest.

“We started playing Lucky Lotteries around 1972 and we haven’t really stopped since.

“We’ve had little wins over the years but you don’t have to spend much to win big, which is nice.

“When we checked the ticket and saw the win, we let out a few choice words, we just couldn’t believe our eyes.

“Forgive me, my brain still isn’t right working.”

Despite still processing the winning news, the elated couple were quick to share that the money had come just in time, as they embarked on extensive house renovations.

“We’re feeling very lucky to have won right now as we’re in the process of starting some house renos,” he shared.

“It’s a welcome boost that’s for sure!”

Their entry of one random number was purchased at Foodworks Wynnum West, Shop 1, Cnr Wynnum Road & Randall Road, Wynnum West.

Foodworks Wynnum West store manager David Edwards said he felt overwhelmed with joy when he heard his outlet had sold a 1st Prize winning ticket worth $100,000.

“It is such an incredible feeling to be able to give back to our community,” he said.

“We’ve been patiently waiting for a win and are so happy to celebrate our first ever 1st Prize win.

“We’re planning on decorating our entire service area with posters and balloons to celebrate the win.

Congratulations to our local winner! You truly deserve this win, and we hope you enjoy the freedom.”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $2.68 million for draw 1689, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $5.44 million for draw 10882.

In FY24, 147 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $53.4 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
