A smaller lottery win has led a Yatala woman to an unforgettable $25,000 Instant Scratch-Its prize after she used some of her winnings to purchase a top prize-winning ticket.

The $2 Bring Home The Bacon ticket was from Nextra Toombul News & Megabooks, Shop 14-17, Toombul Shopping Town, 1015 Sandgate Road, Toombul.

Sharing her excitement with an official from The Lott this morning, the Gold Coast woman explained she was still coming to terms with the exciting news.

“Initially, I won a little bit of money on a lottery ticket and decided to reinvest into another ticket,” she exclaimed.

“I still had a bit of prize money left over, leading me to purchase $10 worth of Instant Scratch-Its tickets.

“I was alone at home when I scratched this ticket. It was a pleasant surprise!

“As soon as I realised I had won, I sent a photo of the ticket to my brother, and he said to me, ‘you f****** won $25,000!’.

“You tend to believe a $2 or $5 win, but you don’t believe it when it’s anything larger than that.”

When asked how she thought she might enjoy her instant windfall, the Queensland mum had one important thing in mind.

“I’m not entirely sure how I’ll spend my winnings, but I know I’ll help my kids out,” she said.

“We haven’t celebrated yet, but I think I will with a bottle of champagne.”

Nextra Toombul News & Megabrooks manager Russell Scullen said he was over the moon for the winner.

“Wow! That’s great news,” he laughed.

“Since I’ve managed the store, we haven’t had an Instant Scratch-Its top prize win.

“It’s a challenging time for everyone at the moment. For anyone receiving a win, it would be very helpful.

“From everyone at Nextra Toombul News & Megabrooks, we would like to wish the winner a big congratulations. It’s fantastic to see it go to one of our customers.”

In 2020, there were 177 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $16 million in top prizes.
