A hardworking Prahran dad is starting his workweek with a glass of celebratory bubbly after receiving the news he’d scored $1.6 million in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.
The Melbourne resident held one of the four division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4597 on Saturday 9 August 2025. Each division one winning entry scored $1,668,614.99.
Initially missing the winning phone call from lottery officials, the unsuspecting winner picked up on the second attempt.
“Oh my god! You are sh**ing me!” he said in disbelief.
“Oh my goodness. Thank you for calling! Sorry, I didn’t answer at first. My mate just said, ‘Nice one, you hung up on a lottery official!’.
“I’m at work right now and I won’t be able to knock off early, but a glass of champagne will go down nicely later.
“This has come at a perfect time. You’ve completely made my year.
“What a great job you’ve got!
“I’ve played on and off for years. I’m in shock, but it’s a good shock.”
When asked how he planned to use his newfound fortune, the winning dad’s children came first to mind.
“It’ll go to school fees for sure!” he said.
“I’d love to go on a holiday or get a new car too.”
His winning 50-game QuickPick entry was purchased on The Lott website – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4597 on 9 August 2025 were 45, 4, 10, 40, 41 and 14, while the supplementary numbers were 3 and 6.
Across Australia, there were four division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4597 – three from Queensland and one from Victoria.
