A St Clair woman in her 30s couldn’t contain her excitement and screamed out at work after realising her life had completely changed with the eye-watering discovery that she had scored more than $22 million in last night’s Powerball draw.

The Sydneysider held the only division one winning entry nationally in Powerball draw 1479, drawn Thursday 19 September 2024, and pocketed a whopping $22,207,849.80.

Remarkably, the division one prize pool of $20,000,000.00 was boosted to a phenomenal $22,207,849.82 due to the number of entries purchased in last night’s Powerball draw.

Officials from The Lott reached the hard-working mother just moments after she checked her ticket. Her disbelief quickly turned to excitement as she realised she had become a newly-minted multi-millionaire.

“I just opened my app now! What the heck!” she screamed.

“Oh my god. I can’t stop shaking. I’m just speechless.

“I’m only in my 30s. This is going to completely change my life. I can now buy a house!

“My family and I will be set up for life!

“I can’t believe it. I saw I had a win, and I thought it was just $11, then I scrolled down and realised I won the whole thing.

“I just got to work, and I couldn’t help but yell out to everyone, ‘I won the $20 million!’.

“One of the guys said, ‘You’re on the shout now!’.

“I don’t know how I'll be able to focus on the rest of the day. Luckily my day isn’t too busy.

“What a crazy Friday morning. I’ll be having a very nice weekend now.

“I don’t play every week, just every now and then like when there’s a big jackpot. I saw the $20 million and I thought that would be nice.

“I can’t believe I really won it. It feels amazing.

“This does so much for me. Buying a house and helping my family is my main priority but I’d love to do some travel too.

“Thank you very much.”

Her 18-game QuickPick was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1479 on Thursday 19 September 2024 were 32, 12, 4, 9, 10, 24 and 7. The all-important Powerball number was 15.

Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1479 – one in New South Wales.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 320 so far in FY24, including 119 won by NSW Lotteries customers.

In FY24, 20 Powerball division one winning entries across Australia pocketed more than $758 million in prize money.

During this time, Powerball offered a $200 million jackpot, the biggest in Australian history, and an Adelaide man who won $150 million became the nation’s biggest individual lottery winner.

Of the 20 Powerball division one winning entries in FY24, eight landed in New South Wales, six in Victoria, three in Queensland and one each in South Australia and Western Australia.
