A young hospitality worker from Waverley has received ‘the best Secret Santa present ever’ after scoring one of the top prizes of $10,000 on a $1 Santa’s Li’l Helper Instant Scratch-Its ticket he received as a gift.
The winning ticket was purchased at Sengly Newsagency, 322 Bronte Road, Waverley.
Sharing his excitement with a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the young bloke relived the moment he made the exciting discovery.
“We had a Secret Santa gift exchange at work and the ticket was a small part of the bigger gift I received,” he explained.
“I don’t usually play Instant Scratch-Its and so I didn’t expect to win. I scratched it while we were swapping gifts and saw that I had won.
“Everyone was so happy for me – including the person who gave it to me.
“There were a few beers to celebrate afterwards!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his instant windfall, the stoked bloke declared he would use it to spread some Christmas cheer.
“I’ll probably use it to go Christmas shopping!” he laughed.
“It will be good to be able to buy all my friends and family gifts and not stress about spending money.
“I’ll probably save the rest for the future and think about how I might enjoy it.”
Between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019, there were 118 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.14 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 27.6 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $214.2 million.
