A Brighton-Le-Sands man has declared he won’t be showing up for work today after discovering he won $1 million in last night’s Monday Lotto draw.

The New South Wales player held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3982, drawn Monday 15 June 2020, and takes home a division one prize of $1,000,000.

This morning an official from the Lott called the winner to break the winning news and tell him he had just become an overnight millionaire.

“Are you kidding me? Are you serious right now?” he questioned.

“My word! This is a shock!

“I can’t believe it. Can you please hold on a minute, I need to get my wife.”

“Wow! Oh my god! This is amazing,” his wife added.

“It’s funny, because I had my own ticket into the draw and I checked it last night and saw someone from New South Wales won and I thought ‘good for them!’.

“I love hearing when someone wins the lottery. Especially because so many people are doing it tough lately.”

The happy man confessed the windfall had given him the perfect excuse to skip work for the day.

“I am not going to work today. No way am I going. I had a weird feeling this morning that I wouldn’t be going to work today, and now I actually have a reason not to!” he said.

“This is wonderful news.

“God, we might have a heart attack! I need to go for a walk to calm down.

“This is such a thrill.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his million-dollar windfall, the overjoyed winner declared a list was already forming.

“I am going to buy a boat! I have been wanting to get one for ages,” he said.

“Now I can get one, woo-hoo!”

“I am already creating a list right now about what we can get. We will definitely be going on an overseas trip when we can travel again too,” the wife shared.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his 18-game marked entry at Brighton-Le-Sands Newsagency, 273 Bay Street, Brighton-Le-Sands.

Brighton-Le-Sands Newsagency owner Helen Wang said she couldn’t be happier for her million-dollar winner.

“We are so happy for our winner,” she said.

“We feel as though our newsagency is lucky now!

“I hope the win can make some of my lucky winner’s dreams come true.

“I would like to send my congratulations to them and hope they enjoy life as a millionaire. They must be celebrating today and thinking about all the things they can do with their prize.

“This is the first division one win we’ve had since we took over the shop three years ago and we hope to sell many more!”
