While lottery officials eagerly wait for the mystery $100 million Powerball winner to come forward and claim their prize, they’re urging all players to register their tickets to ensure they are united with their prizes as soon as possible.

Last Thursday, a Sydney player held the only division one winning entry nationally in Powerball draw 1517, drawn Thursday 12 June 2025, and won $100 million.

They now share the title of Australia’s third-biggest lottery winner ever.

The winning entry was purchased at Bondi Junction Newsagency & Internet Café, Shop 2, 191 - 195 Oxford Street, Bondi Junction.

However, the winning ticketholder has yet to make contact with The Lott to start the prize claim process.

The Lott spokesperson Khat McIntyre said the elusive $100 million Powerball winner could already have been alerted to their good fortune if they had registered their ticket to The Lott Members Club.

“It’s the question many Aussies have been asking during the past seven days: who won last week’s $100 million Powerball prize, and do they know they’ve won?” she said.

“By registering your in-store or online lottery entry to The Lott Members Club, not only are we able to contact you straight after the draw if you win big, but your prize is secure.

“Even if you happen to lose or damage your winning ticket, if it is registered to you, we could still unite you with your prize, providing the ultimate peace of mind.

“Remember, your lottery ticket could be worth millions of dollars, so it makes sense that if you’re going to buy a ticket, you should register it to The Lott Members Club.

“Joining is easy and free – simply ask your retailer when you’re next in-store or register online or via The Lott app.”

While players in New South Wales have six years to claim their prizes, Ms McIntyre said The Lott was keen to speak to the winner and start the prize claim process as soon as possible.

“We pay division one prizes two weeks after the draw, so this prize is ready to be put into someone’s bank account in a week’s time – on Friday 27 June 2025. What a way to end the financial year!” she said.

“The first step is to give us a call on 131 868 if you think you are holding the division one winning entry.”

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1517 on Thursday 12 June 2025 were 28, 10, 3, 16, 31, 14 and 21. The all-important Powerball number was 6.

In 2024, 21 Powerball division one winning entries across Australia pocketed more than $773 million in prize money.

During this time, Powerball offered a $200 million jackpot, the biggest in Australian history, and an Adelaide man who won $150 million became the nation’s biggest individual lottery winner.

Of the 21 Powerball division one winning entries in 2024, 11 landed in New South Wales, six in Queensland, two in Victoria and one each in South Australia and Western Australia.
