In the 11 months ending 30 November 2021, there were 480 division one winning entries across all lottery games held across the country that delivered more than $1.3 billion in division one prize money.

After enduring a year of lockdowns, Victoria finished 2021 on a high, taking out the top spot for the most major prizes. There were 131 division one winning entries in the state that scored more than $358 million in prize money. This impressive tally was aided by the biggest individual lottery win of the year – an $80 million prize pocketed by a North Melbourne dad in August.

However, New South Wales and the ACT can boast about the most division one prize money and crowning the most lottery millionaires, with 97.

The data also reveals the suburbs in each state and territory that were home to the outlets that sold the most division one winning entries.

The Lott spokesperson Lauren Cooney said Lotto’s $40 Million Megadraw on New Year’s Eve could cement or contradict the country’s 2021 lottery hotspots.

“The annual Lotto Megadraw is famous being a millionaire-maker, and this year’s $40 million jackpot is the biggest prize the Megadraw has ever offered,” she said.

“We’re certainly looking forward to rounding out the year with Lotto’s Megadraw on Friday 31 December 2021 and crowning an entirely new group of division one winners.

“While lottery wins can land anywhere, from time to time, we see pockets of wins emerge in certain postcodes and regions. This year, we’ve seen wins fall far and wide across the country, from inner-city suburbs to regional locations.

“Will this year’s Megadraw wins land in the latest lottery hotspots or fall elsewhere? We’ll just have to wait and see!”

Ms Cooney said this year’s Megadraw could be the ticket to an unforgettable 2022.

“Just imagine what it would be like to finish the year with a division one lottery win. That will be the reality for a group of people across the country this New Year’s Eve,” she said.

“What New Year’s resolutions could you accomplish with a boosted bank balance?

“Megadraw is about two weeks away, so we recommend players get in early and grab an entry for their chance to start 2022 as a division one winner!”
