One or more Aussies could receive the call of a lifetime tomorrow night if they score a slice of Powerball’s $100 million jackpot.

The dream of receiving a winning phone call has crossed the minds of countless Aussies. But what if you could step into the shoes of someone who has experienced that surreal rush of euphoria when fortune unexpectedly knocks on the door?

Ahead of tomorrow night’s draw, The Lott has showcased some of the awe-inspiring moments when previous division one winners discovered their wins – capturing the sheer shock and jubilant celebrations.

The $100 million prize is the equal-biggest jackpot offered by any Australian lottery game so far this year. It comes after there were no division one winners for the past five Powerball draws.

Up to half of Australian adults are expected to have an entry into the draw.

The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said a symphony of emotions often unfolded when delivering the news of a division one windfall.

“A major lottery win often brings heartfelt tears of joy, gasps of disbelief or even stunned silence and we’re often a witness to some of the most unforgettable moments in people’s lives,” she said.

“It was only a few weeks ago, on 22 June, that we unveiled a $100 million Powerball win to a Bankstown dad immediately after the draw.

“As we revealed the life-changing news to the Western Sydney resident, there was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, followed by an outpour of emotion. Could we be calling another Aussie about a $100 million Powerball win this week?

“We’re often buzzed with excitement as we prepare to share news that will forever change the course of someone’s life and we’re always unsure of what awaits us on the other end.

“If one person once again scores the entire $100 million prize on Thursday night, they’ll share the title of the second-biggest jackpot winner in Australian lottery history with the Bankstown dad.

“Winning a slice of the $100 million Powerball prize would be a phone call to remember for eternity and would undoubtedly change your life for many decades to come.”

For the chance to receive a division one winning phone call, Ms Hobdell said she recommended players register their entry to a player card or online account.

“I’ll be standing by after this week’s Powerball draw, ready to reach out to any registered division one winners. But we can only call you if you’ve registered your ticket and kept your contact details up to date,” she said.

“And I’d recommend taking your phone off silent on Thursday evening, just in case I need to call you!”

The last time Powerball offered a $100 million prize (in June 2023), the peak of sales was at 6.29pm on the day of the draw when more than 8,227 tickets were sold in a single minute.

Tickets into the $100 million Powerball draw 1420 can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app before the draw’s close at 7.30pm AEST on Thursday 3 August 2023.
