A Charlestown mum thought her eyes where deceiving her when she checked her Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket and discovered a mind-blowing million-dollar win.
The Newcastle resident held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4209, drawn Wednesday 17 August 2022 and takes home $1,008,659.80.
Confirming her windfall with an official from The Lott first thing this morning, the winning woman relayed how the unforgettable discovery came about.
“It’s the most beautiful thing – It’s changed my life!” she cheered.
“I thought I’d check my entry to see if I’d won something. All I was expecting was a smaller win!
“When I saw it pop up, I took a photo of it and called my daughter straight away.
“I said to her, ‘Are you seeing what I’m seeing?!’ and she responded with, ‘How did this happen?’.
“I just said to her, ‘I don’t know! I don’t know!’. I thought it was a mistake!
“My daughter couldn’t believe it. She’s amazed!
“Surprisingly, I had the most peaceful sleep. Maybe because I know that I’m set up for my future!
“Now that I’ve come to terms with the win and I know it’s true, I just can’t stop smiling.
“I know you get this all the time but thank you so much for changing my life.”
When asked how the newly-minted millionaire dreamed of using her prize, she said she had a plan in mind.
“I’ve been renting for many years, and I can’t wait to buy a house!” she shared.
“My daughter and I weren’t too sure about my long-term plan, but now the missing pieces of the puzzle are all coming together.
“We’re going to celebrate as a family and pop open a bottle of champagne!”
Her winning System 9 entry was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4209 on Wednesday 17 August 2022 were 27, 1, 14, 24, 32 and 10, while the supplementary numbers were 8 and 25.
