Aussies looking for an especially auspicious start to 2026 will be vying for the chance to become a millionaire in this weekend’s Saturday Lotto $30 Million Megadraw.
Up to a third of Australian adults are expected to have their hands on a ticket into the annual draw renowned for creating more millionaires in a single night than any other draw.
On Saturday 3 January 2026, the day of the draw, more than 2,500 Lotto tickets a minute are expected to be sold in-store and online at peak times.
The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said winning a share of the $30 million jackpot would certainly put a spring in your step heading into 2026.
“If previous years’ Megadraws are anything to go by, this weekend we could be welcoming a batch of newly minted millionaires across Australia,” he said.
“I’m sure it would help kickstart a very happy 2026 and beyond for any division one winners. You’d really have something to celebrate this January with a division one prize in your pocket.
“The last January Megadraw, on 4 January 2025, saw 14 division one winning entries share the jackpot, each taking home $2.1 million.
“Imagine what incredible experiences 2026 could hold for you and your loved ones if you won a share of $30 million! I’ll be calling any registered division one winners on Sunday – certainly one way to start 2026 on a high.”
Lotto hot and cold numbers While Lotto is a game of chance and every number has an equal chance of being drawn, The Lott can reveal the most frequently and least frequently drawn Lotto numbers during the past 40 years.
- The most frequently drawn, or ‘hot’, numbers during this time were 1, 11, 8 and 42.
- Meanwhile, the least frequently drawn, or ‘cold’ numbers were 44, 27, 14 and 30.
Saturday Lotto winning entry types
- In 2025, about 60% of Saturday Lotto division one winning entries were QuickPick entries, where the lottery terminal randomly selects the numbers. The remainder were marked entries, where players selected the numbers on their ticket.
- The top three entry types to score division one in Saturday Lotto were System entries, 12-game entries and 18-game entries.
Mr Hart said this weekend could see a select group of Aussies join the illustrious list of lottery winners whose lives were transformed forever.
“In 2025, there were more than 500 division one winning entries that collectively won more than $1.5 billion,” he said.
“Last year, we heard screams of joy, hysterical laughter and stunned silence as Aussies across the country discovered their good fortune and started making long-held dreams a reality. Who knows what will happen in 2026!
“For anyone buying an entry into the $30 Million Megadraw, I recommend that you get in early and register your entry to The Lott Members Club – either in-store or online. This means your prize is secure and we can call you with the amazing news should you be holding a division one winning entry.”
Saturday Lotto’s $30 Million Megadraw, draw 4639, will take place on Saturday 3 January 2026.
