A Belmont woman can’t wait to hug beloved family members living overseas after scoring $200,000 in the latest Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw.

The Lake Macquarie resident held the 1st Prize-winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1662 on Thursday, 18 April 2024. In addition to the $200,000 1st Prize, she also scored a $1,000 consolation prize.

“I can’t believe it! I feel like it’s unreal! I’m just doing the housework,” the winning woman exclaimed when an official from The Lott confirmed her win this morning.

“Thank you so much! I’ve been playing for a while. I just feel, why not? Everyone has a chance to win. It could be me.

“I’m thinking about all the things I can do. I’d love to pay off the mortgage and I’d also love to see some family members who live overseas that I haven’t seen in five years. It would be a long overdue family reunion!

“It’s just unreal!

“I think I’ll be doing the rest of my housework today with a big smile!”

The woman’s winning entry of five consecutive numbers was purchased at Belmont City News and Gifts, Shop 21, Primewest Belmont Citi Centre, 41 Macquarie Street, Belmont.

Belmont City News and Gifts owner Lisa Sinclair said the win had quickly become the talk of the town.

“I was so excited when I heard that we had sold a division one winning ticket.  I called out to my husband to tell him,” she said.

“We are blessed to have the best friends here at Belmont, and we are so excited that one of them is $200 000 richer today.  Everyone is happy to hear about it, and they are sharing their dreams of being the next winner and how life-changing this would be.

“This win is our third big one in three years and we couldn't be happier.  The last win was a Monday & Wednesday Lotto division one prize, which was won by the most beautiful local lady who just wanted to give money to her grandchildren.

“We are ready for more division one wins!  All the customers are talking about our next major event being their win!”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now 16.84 million for draw 1663, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $890,003 for draw 10847.

In 2023, 117 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $20.6 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.

The official home of Australia’s lotteries, The Lott operates and markets Australia’s leading lottery games customers know and love creating everyday winners, winning every day.

In 2023, more than 122.7 million wins took home more than $3.76 billion in prize money from their favourite games at The Lott, including Saturday Lotto, Monday & Wednesday Lotto, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno (SA), Super 66, Lotto Strike and Instant Scratch-Its.

Last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries contributed more than $1.6 billion via state lottery taxes and donations to help community initiatives, such as hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
